“McCain is a Good Christian…
February 7, 2008
with family values and Obama is a Muslim. That’s all I need to know.” Wow.
The above statement was made today by a Christian co-worker during a discussion about the upcoming election.
Folks, this is EXACTLY why I simply abhor religious zealots. Say what you want about “militant atheists.” At least an atheist will look past the claimed religion of a person to see what they are really about.
I asked the guy, “Have you even looked into things like, oh I don’t know, their platforms? How about their voting records?” (On a side note, nice to see that McCain was in Washington today but was absent during the time of the vote for the stimulus package. In cloacher rules, an absent vote is a no vote. Way to look out for the people, McCain, and show your concern, either way.)
The answer? “I know all I need to know about the man. Any man that gets sworn in on the Koran won’t get my vote.” Are there really still people out there that believe this fabrication? Yes, there are. Am I surprised? Please. I live in a country that spent just under $650 BILLION on the military in 2007. The budget for next year? Raise that by 8% and cut education funding…AGAIN.
No child left behind? More like EVERYONE left behind. With America’s education system going down the shitter like last nights’ burrito, is it any wonder that more and more people are willing to be spoon fed lies by the hundreds?
As far as McCain having “family values,” I believe that he is on his second wife. Pretty sure Obama is still happily married to…oh yeah, his first wife. As for his being a Muslim, he belongs to The United Church of Christ, not Allah.
Do the country a favor, evangelicals, do your freaking homework or stay away from the polls. We already have seen enough of what you are capable of putting in office with W. Yeah, let’s put McCain in. One foot in the grave (that isn’t ageism, just a fact), wants to stay in Iraq for a few more years and loves to cut taxes for corporations. I bet that will get us right out of this recession…and right into another depression!

Got something to say?

Honestly, I’m surprised people still believe that. Then again, I haven’t been out in public lately except for the Democratic caucus here, so stupidity hasn’t been much of an issue for me lately.
McCain’s family values helped George Bush launch the Iraq war.
McCain used many of the same arguments as Donald Rumsfeld, Vice President Cheney and President Bush when advocating going to war with Iraq.
How short the memory is. Senator McCain praised Donald Rumsfeld as late as May 12, 2004, after the Abu Ghraib scandal.
Senator McCain repeatedly supported President Bush on the Iraq War – voting with him in the Senate, defending his actions and publicly praising his leadership.
Senator McCain now says he sees no end to the presence of U.S. troops in Iraq. McCain on how long troops may remain in Iraq: “A thousand years. A million years. Ten million years. It depends on the arrangement we have with the Iraqi government.” [Associated Press, 1/04/08]
This war has so far claimed the lives of nearly 4,000 American servicemen and women, left more than 29,000 wounded, and has resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, as well as untold numbers of coalition military personnel, contractors, and humanitarian workers.
The Republicans are so morally bankrupt that the war does not even matter any more.

It’s funny because Obama is a Christian
Ah… yes… well, America is a Christian nation, after all, so what do you expect? I mean, come on, this nation was founded upon Christian principles and OBVIOUSLY needs a stout-hearted Christian ruling it!
Oh, wait, NO!
Christian nation, my atheistic ass!
The founding fathers were not Christians. They weren’t theists. Some fall under the category of “deism” but others were atheists. However, NONE of that matters! None of them would have wanted our nation’s political system run based upon religion! They made clear provisions against that, didn’t they??? And, I mean, look where they came from! They wouldn’t want a repeat of England.
Seriously, George Washington is rolling in his fucking grave right now.
Ron Paul FTW
It’s funny my wife just had this same conversation with a co-worker two days ago. I think these people are getting a little too much FOX news exposure. It’s sickening how any media outlet or “journalist” can not only get away with slander and/or propaganda but is encouraged to nowadays. The only thing that is more sickening and frightening is how easily and unquestioningly this garbage is accepted by vacuous people who vote religiously (and by religiously, I mean regularly and at the whim of their Sheppard).
There should be an IQ test for the right to vote.
BTW, McCain blames terrorism primarily on the internet. That’s right, the internet. Aside from the fact that the internet is a tool just as a library or a church or a bomb is a tool, he sees it as a source of unchecked evil.
He is completely out of touch and it is obvious he is frightened of technology. If this man is elected by the “moral majority” I could very well see restricting and limiting the internet as one of his priorities.
And all of his voters will think it is for their own good to protect us from terror, just like the Patriot Act.
Atheist Messiah,
If he is elected, I will be looking into moving…to a different country…that is predominately secular…
I’m a Christian, and I know McCain will be another Bush. I hate when people vote based on religion. I don’t want a President because he is of my faith, I want a President who can run the country. My mom said she wouldn’t vote for Romney in the primary’s because he was a Mormon, I told her how ignorant she sounded and how Romney would have been a good President. Now were stuck between McCain and Obama. Give me Obama. Libertarian at heart, Chase.
