News on AAUPC.ORG

The next phase of AAUPC (Atheists and Agnostics United to Promote Change) is taking shape and the details are being fleshed out as I type. Think of it as a “mySpace” for atheists and agnostics. You will have the ability to browse blogs by state and create a blog of your own on AAUPC.

The idea is to have a place where fellow atheists and agnostics can get together and meet others. The slogan for AAUPC defines the goals we have in mind for it, “Unity. Support. Activism.”

The raw concept for AAUPC was not well defined, extremely general. More and more, the idea began to take shape as I watched Nicole Smalkowski’s 20/20 segment. I remember quite vividly what it was like to be her age and an atheist. You are the minority and there isn’t much in the way of support out there. Even today, many atheists are in the closet or hide behind a screen name on some obscure forum board or blog.

This is where AAUPC wants to help. We want to create a community were you can meet, converse with and get to know other freethinkers in your area. A place for you to freely post your thoughts, questions and concerns and get feedback from others in the community.

I would like to hear what you would like to see implemented on the site and hear your ideas. We have a launch date of 07/01/2007. Feel free to comment. We will also be looking for Heads of State. These will be people that will administrate their state’s blog. Please use the comment form on our Contact Us page to get in touch with me about that.
