Our Nation, a Side Note
March 15, 2008
Just taking a brief hiatus from my normal critiques on religion for a moment to rant about something that has really been under my skin for quite some time; our nation, the United States. With our growing deficit (both economical and trade), plunging dollar and unhealthy population, there are quite a few things that need to be changed here in America. The rest of the world has seen this coming for some time as we sat complacently on our couches watching our HD T.V.’s and playing our $500+ gaming systems, all the while stuffing our faces with calorie ridden chips and washing it down with a liter of Coke.
Don’t like the situation that we are in, my fellow Americans? Are you one of the many that fill up your tank to the tune of $3.50 or more per gallon and putting it on the good ‘ol credit card? Like paying more at the grocery store than you ever did before? How’s that energy bill treating you? Like paying that ever rising health care insurance? Or maybe you are one of the millions of Americans that have no idea what color shoes you have on right now. Not because you forgot, but because you can’t see them.
The biggest catch phrase in politics today is one word: change. “America needs real change.” Bullshit. You know what America needs? Less apathy and more involvement of it’s citizens. More people who want to make a difference and understand that that means more than just writing a heated letter to your congressman. We need more people who are informed about what is going on in our society and how it impacts us.
Tired of those gas prices? Driving an SUV you really don’t need? Don’t complain then. Although I could say that it’s your problem, it’s not. You’re making it my problem simply by driving that unnecessary, gas guzzling ego stroke. After all, that’s what it’s about, isn’t it? You don’t need that Hummer. Most of those that actually own one will never use it for it’s intended purpose anyway. (And most of you can’t really drive one anyway. I have seen you try to park that Excursion at the store. A five point turn just to pull into a parking spot?!?! You suck.) But no, you’re willing to get that whopping 12 miles to the gallon just to look good. You just look like an idiot to me. (Especially those of you that don’t even own a home but are willing to fork over 35K for these beasts. You are a retard.)
It’s all about looking good, isn’t it? Let’s take the crash in the housing market and the rise of foreclosures. Face it, you bought more house than you could afford. Period. No, you don’t deserve a government bailout. You deserve to be out on your ass. Why? Because you are a MORON! I was in the business of mortgage lending. I have seen the credit reports of those that refinance. Your debt to income is off the chart and it always will be because you have absolutely no self control and must have the latest and greatest of whatever there is out there. Please, find me a valid argument on why you need to spend 5K on a friggin’ TV?
In a nation where we have our own homeless problems, we focus more on the poverty of other countries. In a nation where children routinely go to bed every night malnourished, households throw away 50 billion (with a B) dollars worth of food every year.
In a nation where alternate forms of energy are available, oil is still our bloodstream and we rely on foreign transfusions to keep us sustained.
Even though solar shingles are available for a mere 20% more than a normal shingle and can provide you with electricity and a great ROI, you will still pay your electric company the exorbitant amount that they demand. Garbage can be used to create both diesel and electricity, but how many of you actually knew that and looked into the progress before you read it here?
So many issues to tackle, so little time. America doesn’t need change. America needs its people to get involved in its turnaround and growth. But I guess that that WOULD be a change, now wouldn’t it?

Got something to say?

Good Blog. I will continue reading it in the future. Nice layout too.

It’s too late for that friend.
We’re a nation of people who feel like everyone else owes them something. A nation who craves no more then to feed its cravings without thought of results.
We are the end result of our enviroment; A world where companys have learned to GIVE people that craving with a small fee. We are the children of decades of the world being handed to them, the change of being told “You CAN be anything” to “You DESERVE to be anything you want”.
We are the sum of our mistakes. We are dazed animals who have grown fat in a false enviroment, unaware and unable to survive the shocking world outside our cages.
The only problem with America are Americans.
(As a side note from this, the upper 10% of the USA are amazing… our scientists, our thinkers… this does not apply to those few and great.)
