The truth about Muhammad is that we know precisely as much about him as we know about Jesus: nothing at all. Until we have found sources from back then that confirm his existence, he’s to be considered a mythological being who may or may not have existed.

I wasn’t able to find any information on “Ex-Muslim879,” who apparently created the video clip, but considering the references to Muhammad being Satan and the extensive use of Western, Christian morals as reason to denounce Islam, I suspect that Ex-Muslim879 has found a new religion that he/she would like you to consider, or that Ex-Muslim879 may in fact never have been a Muslem.

This video is an interesting encapsulation of the more lurid aspects of Mohammed’s life. Although, it appears that it is still being told from a comparative religious perspective. That is, the references as to whether or not Mohamed is “evil” or not, reinforces the idea of the existence of evil — or better put: the idea of God versus Satan. And other references made, as to what the true attributes of a “prophet” are, attempts to convey the idea that there actually is such a thing as a true prophet.

Another point that the video doesn’t address is that the history of the Hebrew people is similarly draconian and repulsive. The OT is replete with the historical evidence and justifications of god’s chosen folks owning slaves and killing the fathers and sons of the nations they defeated. It also recounts how the Hebrews murdered those of its own numbers who refused to give up the worshipping of “other gods.” The OT further contains evidence of the Hebrews sexual use of slaves, the raping of unattached and unprotected women, and the rules for divvying up of the “spoils of holy war” in the form of the women and girls. But the Hebrews were even more persnickety in this respect, in that they would also kill all the women who have already “been known by men.” So if the video’s point was to bash Islam in favor of the Judeo/Christian version of god, then from my persecptive its still six in one hand, and half a dozen in the other.

Of course, my critique does not intend to undermine the truth about Mohamed and Islam that the video presents. One of the best books I’ve ever read on this subject is by Karen Armstrong: “Muhammad: A Biography of the Prophet.” In it, she tells of the connection between Mohamed and the Jews and how they saved his life after he and his little band of merry men, and killers were defeated and run out of Medina after they attempted to stop the Arabs there from worshipping the pantheon of Levantine gods. It is here while living with the Jews that he learned the elaborate tales of the god of Abraham. At this time Allah, like Yahweh was only one in a pantheon of gods that the Arab tribes worshipped. After his stint with the Jews and learning of their tales he went back to Medina and defeated the same people who had previously run him off. But this time the Arabs there were forced to accept his tales and beliefs in the supremacy of Allah, on pain of death. Islam is truly number one when it comes to “Forced Religions,” when compared to the other Abrahamic versions.

Since most of the tales of the Levantine were a mishmash of all the others (a all products of syncretism), it should be obvious that the blending of these tales would naturally happen over time. Particularly as one tribe or nation conquered the other, these beliefs began to seep into the ideation of the others. But what impressed Mohamed the most about the Jews, was the fact that they had taken their tales and myths and written them down in a book. And so that was the name that he gave to the Jews: “The People of the Book.”

Only a Bronze-Age mentality would not find it inconceivable that a god who wished to impart his wisdom onto his people would have picked an illiterate nomadic desert tribesman to do it. It is often overlooked, particularly by many religionists, that until the past 100+ or so years, the majority of the people populating the planet were as illiterate as Mohamed. When one must formulate ideas of the world and of reality in the absnece of scientific proof and logic, and do so through innervision, introspection and through one’s internal dialogue, it shouldn’t be surprising that most people believed these fantastic tales. Because otherwise, the idea that an Archangel named Gabriel came to him in dreams and imparted this knowledge — and that Mohamed later, after many, many years, then recounted all that he was told, word for word, to those who could write it all down, is just plain ludicrous.

All of the Abrahamic religions that exist today are nothing more than diluted and bastardized forms of ancient mystical bullshit. While much of the earlier manifestations if religion also incorporated early knowledge of science — that is, the movement of the sun, the planets and the constellations, its only saving grace — the rest is just a mishmash of beliefs strung-out over many lands and different times. Until today, we have the modern versions which blithely overlook the horrendous aspects of its past, only to concentrate upon those aspects of its message that appear to reinforce the religionist’s belief system as presently configured.

Science and logic have in fact overtaken religion. The proof is to be found in everyday life. Modern life cannot exist, nor could it have even been conceived of without science and logic. And religionists take advantage of the benefits of science and logic at every turn. While simultaneously trashing it in favor of their god beliefs. And they do so because of their fear of the loss of religion altogether. And this is why people continue to believe such foolishness. Because true religionists cannot conceive of a world without their god in it. THEIR DELUSION HAS BECOME THEIR REALITY.

And I beleive that it is for these reasons that they will never let it go. Never.
